Creatinine Clearance Calculator

Calculate kidney filtration rate using the Cockcroft-Gault equation - commonly used for medication dosing.

When to use: Creatinine clearance (CrCl) is commonly used for drug dosing adjustments, as many medication package inserts reference this value rather than eGFR.

CrCl vs eGFR

Creatinine Clearance (CrCl) from the Cockcroft-Gault equation is different from eGFR. CrCl includes body weight and tends to overestimate in obese patients and underestimate in elderly patients. Many drug dosing guidelines still reference CrCl rather than eGFR.

Note: For obese patients, some clinicians use adjusted body weight. For drug dosing, always consult the specific medication's prescribing information and consider consulting a pharmacist.
